2008
is all about the Beijing Olympic Games!
Andrew and Bettina are not going to be competing at the Beijing
Olympic Games but their student
Yoshiaki
Oiwa will be.
This is a very exciting time for Yoshi as he will be competing at
his 1st Olympic Games and is the only Japanese Eventing Rider. All
of Japan will have their fingers crossed for him to emulate his
achievement of the Gold Medal he won at the Asian Games in October
2007. Yoshi has entered a Quarantine Site here in the UK and at
this stage all his training and preparation with both Khanjer
Black and Gorgeous George are going to plan.
Bettina is helping him with his dressage training and he shall be
choosing one horse to depart the UK for Hong Kong on the 30th July.
All UK based horses from all disciplines shall be flying to Hong Kong
on that day, from Stansted. Bettina shall be accompanying Yoshi to
Hong Kong to continue with the assistance she has been giving him in
his training, whilst Andrew is going to stay at home keeping
everything going.
Andrew
- Master Monarch & Moon Fleet were both qualified for the Beijing
Olympics however the selectors did not consider Moon Fleet for the
team. Master Monarch and Andrew were named as a Reserve for the
Australian Team but Andrew and the Owners chose not to enter the
Quarantine Site.
Bettina
- As you may well be aware was chosen to represent Germany at the
2008 Beijing Olympic Games but sadly on the last competition that
the German Olympic hopefuls HAD to compete at - Aachen, Ringwood
Cockatoo injured himself in the Show Jumping phase and therefore
could not continue the competition. Bettina was informed by the
German Federation that she would have to compete Cockatoo the
following weekend at a 2* event to enable them to keep their place
in the German Olympic Team.
Cockatoo slipped going into a jump
in the S Jumping and fell onto his Seat Bone sustaining deep
bruising to this area. After Aachen Bettina stayed in Warendorf with
Cockatoo for him to be treated for this problem and was responding
well, however Bettina made the decision that it was not in
Cockatoo's best interest to run him at the 2* event. She knew that
this would mean loosing her place in the German Olympic Team but she
made the decision for Cockatoo, not for herself.
This meant that Andreas Dibowski
would now move up to take her place to represent Germany in Beijing
and Bettina wishes all the German riders the best of luck in Hong
Kong.
